SOMETHING, SOMEWHERE------part 3 (Fiction)”

Andrey stared at the woman, still unsure how to react.

A nurse poked her head through the door, saw the standing women and gasped. She disappeared and was back in no time with cast of people: matrons, assistants and more nurses.

Andrey tried to take it all in but it did not make any sense. He felt Katrine’s hand grab his shoulder.

She will be fine. She reassured him.

He shook his head.

No she won’t.

You should never say such things, Katrine encourage him. God has this under control.

Andrey forced a weak smile and attempted to hold her shoulders, but his arms were too weak.

I saw her go out, Fatima. She is dead.

Katrine helped him to settle in the closet chair as more people came in to see the other woman that stood on her feet.

Katrine, I don’t know why God will take my wife and give this woman here a miracle. I prayed…..

Shh…katrine chided him. Don’t uproot your seed. Your wife is not dead.
But I s…..Andrey began but his friend cut him off.

You saw her being wheeled out. She was taken to the intensive care unit. Some of the best doctors are attending to her as we speak. She is not dead.
Andrey swallowed hard as everything began to make some sense to him. The pilgrimage to the ward reduced as a senior consultant walked in and the crowd fizzled out. He motioned to the standing woman to lay in the bed. He checked her heart rate, her breathing and her temperature. He peered into her eyes, felt her pulse rate and just kept shaking his head.
How do you feel, madam? He asked.

I feel as fit as an 18 year old, she replied.

What is your name? The Doctor asked.

Sharon. Professor Sharon Akintola.

How old are you?

I am seventy. And I know what you are doing. You want to see if I am of sound mind. The woman smiled gracefully. I am perfect. I have never felt better.

The doctor shook his head in bewilderment.

I don’t understand this. I don’t, he whispered under his breath.

It’s a miracle….. Professor Sharon was all teeth and gums.

The doctor nodded.

I don’t believe in miracles. He rose to his feet. We have contacted your family. They should be here soon.

With that, he walked out of the ward without another word.

The elderly woman got out of her bed and walked towards Andrey and Katrine. She radiated a strange glow and her warm smile could melt any heart.

Reaching for Andrey, she touched his face and whispered, Thank you. Thank you so much.

Andrey was speechless.

The woman continued. I must have been in this hospital for about to years now. This is the first time I have been on my feet in six months. This is the first time I have spoken in three months. God sent you to me.

You are gracious, ma. God is faithful. God is faithful. Andrey could not say anymore.

That song was from heaven. Sharon continued. That song touched my spirit. Let’s sing it again.

Andrey looked at her with mixed feelings. He was not sure he wanted to sing just yet but she had such a sweet spirit. Softly, they began to sing as they lifted up their hands, Thank you, thank you Lord. Thank you Lord. We thank You Lord for everything you have done.,,,

They fell to their needs and continued to sing as the atmosphere began to get charged with God’s presence. Just then, Andrey felt a tap on his shoulder.

Sir, you will need to sign this before the procedure. It was a female doctor.
Andrey dropped back to reality.

What procedure?

I will explain to you the Doctor continued. We have to go now. I must tell you that her chances are slim, but we will do our best.
Andrey heart began to race.

To be continued on next part………
