PRAYER, The Final Assault------part 2 (Fiction)”

Good Lord, what did I do wrong?

I had begun to perspire profusely. All the scriptures I knew evaporated. I just stared, petrified.

My ears could pick the approaching wail of sirens. Help is here, I thought. I just had to stay alive until the ambulance arrived. The reptile did not shift it’s gaze. I held my breath. I had heard all kinds of stories about this creature and I did not want to find out how true they were. I gritted my teeth and hoped for the best. The approaching sirens got loud enough. They had arrived. I heard feet shuffle and voices sounding back and forth.
Careful…..

They are two.

Hey, hold this.

No stop. Be careful…

They kept going back and forth almost oblivious to my presence. I was scared to make a sound. What if I moved and the boa attacked? While my mind dithered between oprions, I heard footfalls getting closer. Then, whoever it was stopped. Then, I heard the sharpest shriek ever. The voice was feminine and the shriek was heart wrenching. More people rushed down. The snake did not budge. I was now sweating even more profusely.
This is a bad sign, one of them managed to speak up.

Let’s leave here, another one said.

No, lets help him, yet another interjected.
Don’t you see he is a wicked man. The second one continued. How can one person be involved in an accident and be attacked by a snake on the same day? It’s his destiny.

So we will leave him here?

At that point, a righteous rage began to build up in me. I remembered the scriptures. They will tread upon snakes and scorpions.

From deep within me, tongues began to well up and I began to pray in the Holy Ghost. I was not taught to be a coward!

Katabrodohatakalashabrolatida……!! (speaking in tongues)

What is he doing? The lady asked.

I paid them no mind. I continued speaking in tongues. Soon I felt my arms and legs grow warm. I kept my eyes on the reptile as I began to rise to my feet. The slithering creature hit the floor with a thud and struck its vicious pose. When I perceived that I had generated enough power, I spoke directly to it.

In the name of Jesus Christ, I rebuke you, foul spirit. It fell smack on the ground and began to squirm.

I continued. I burn you with fire. I annihilate you by the power of the Holy Spirit. As I continued to speak, I watched the snake writhe and wriggle in pain until, suddenly, it burst into flames. I stood there and watched it burn to ashes.

There was silence.

I turned to look at the people who had come to help us. Two of them were members of the Federal Road Safety Corps. One of them was a policeman. Two other people ran to the scene and stopped dead in their tracks. They did not utter a word.

I tried to smile. But I could not shake the feeling that something was not right. The others did not know whether to run to me or run from me.
Hi. My name is Daniel. I am fine. I tried to strike a conversation.

You are a man of God no doubt, the lady began. But….but…. she stammered.

I was puzzled.

But what?

She pointed at my side.

Then I saw it. A chunk of metal was buried deep in my side. I had lost a lot of blood. I realized why I had felt faint. Slowly the whole place began to spin. I passed out.

To be continued on next part………
